Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said that Congress candidate for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is fighting a losing battle.

He said Captain himself has admitted in his public statement that the Majitha area is strong hold of the Akalis and he should understand that even the rest of the areas are similarly attached to the ideology of Shiromani Akali Dal (B) and gives support to the development plank of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and leadership of Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Majithia who was speaking at an election rally in favour of senior BJP national leader and SAD-BJP candidate for Amritsar parliamentary seat Arun Jaitley said on the D-day of April 30, when people will vote for Jaitley they would show Captain the door. He said Captain also understands the reality and the message of his defeat is written on the wall and only the people’s mandate is waited for the April 30. ``By sending Jaitley to Parliament, you will be sending a powerful person to the next NDA government who will bring development and progress for the area’’, said Majithia.

He said it is just two week since Captain had been in the field and he realizes how difficult it is to run through the streets and this has kled him to believe that all areas including Majitha is Akalis’ stronghold. ``In the next two weeks Mr.Captain will face more realities on the ground and would see how his graph goes down as his election campaign is fast losing the momentum which is visible from the facts that he had been cancelling various election meetings as he had to take rest in the hotel rooms’’, said Majithia as the people applauded.

Majithia said it will be Captain’s last battle and after his defeat he will never face the voters in near future and would retire to the Hills and Hotels, his preferred places. Meanwhile more than 20 families belonging to the Congress joined SAD (B) today at Boparai village and extended their support to the Akali-BJP candidate Jaitley. Majithia welcomed them and said everyday a number of Congress families were joining the Akalis which also showed the dwindling support base of Captain Amarinder Singh. He said Captain has also opposed Jaitley’s proposal of opening of Attari Border trade with Pakistan which shows that he did not want Amritsar region to prosper
