The DPR pertaining for sewage treatment plant at Sangrur is for Rs.79.75 Crore (Government of India share-Rs.52.10 crore,State government share- Rs.6.51 crore and Municipal committee-Rs.21.14 crore) and Barnala for Rs.103.89 ( Government of India share-Rs.63.89 crore,State government share-Rs.7.98 crore and Municipal committee-Rs.32.05 crore).
Both the projects are now being appraised by NBCC ( National Building Construction Company) a PSU of Goverment of India under Ministry of Urban Development. Once the appraisal is done the project will be sent to Ministry of Urban Development for approval and subsequently after approval to the Ministry of Finance,Government of INDIA for release of funds to state government.
Sangrur MP Vijay Inder Singla urged the state government to make the necessary allocation of 30% of the state share ( For Barnala- Rs.40.03 crore and Sangru- Rs.27.65 crore) in the forthcoming budget so that the project can be taken up on priority rather than seeking cheap publicity for these central funded projects.
