Rs.15.50 lakh grant for installation of tubewell given out of MPLAD fund of Union Minister Tewari to area residents

Addressing a gathering at Grewal Colony in municipal ward No. 2 here today, they added people belonging to every section of the society were greatly upset with the functioning of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL). On the occasion, they handed over a cheque of grant worth Rs. 15.50 lakh for installation of water tubewell for ensuring the supply of pure drinking water in the locality concerned out of MPLAD Fund belonging to local MP and Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari.

Both the Congress leaders regretted that Ludhiana city had been lagging in the development and MCL was nearing to the bankruptcy as it had been lacking funds for releasing salaries to its employees. Under such circumstances it would be meaningless to talk if carrying out development projects in the city, they pointed out. They alleged that MCL was issuing cheques for releasing the payments but there were no funds in its bank accounts.
