CHANDIGARH: The People's Party of Punjab today lost its last pillar as its last remaining Senior Vice President and member Central Committee Darshan Singh Mandhir, and S. Amardeep Singh Brar, who fought from Ropar by securing second highest votes of more than 25000 rejoined Shiromani Akali Dal in the presence of SAD President and Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Welcoming back S. Mandhir and S. Brar in their mother party Shiromani Akali Dal, S. Badal said that S. Darshan Singh Mandhir is a Political Institution in Gidderbaha area and he himself owes his initial political upbringing to S. Mandhir. He said that S. Mandhir has always remained inseparable part of Shiromani Akali Dal and now he has returned back to his mother party frustrated by Manpreet extending olive branch to Congress Party. S. Badal said that now Manpreet Badal’s stand fully exposed as his agenda of breaking Shiromani Akali Dal has been exposed to People of Punjab. Welcoming both leaders in the Party fold, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that even Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal rang me up expressing happiness over return of two veterans in the SAD fold.
Speaking on the occasion S. Darshan Singh Mandhir and S. Amardeep Singh Brar said that they were pained by the decision of Manpreet Singh Badal to join hands with Congress Party. They said that they had strongly opposed this move and advocated that instead of joining hands with Congress, PPP should go back to mother party Shiromani Akali Dal accepting its mistake. He said that they were surprised to see Congress dictating terms to PPP and Manpreet being at the mercy of small Congress leaders. S. Badal offered siropas to both leaders and their supporters and promised them due respect as family members would be extended to them in their mother party. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included S. Daljeet Singh Cheema, Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal.
