Punjab prohibits departments for parallel inquiry against vigilance probe

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has issued new advisory to all the departments regarding grant of sanction for vigilance inquiry. As per the directions the respective department would take appropriate decision within twenty days on the all such pending cases where vigilance department has sought their permission for prosecuting any officer.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Department said that after the receipt of sanction from the respective department the investigating officer of the vigilance bureau would complete the investigation within three months. He said that this investigation report would be submitted to the respective department and the department would have to take appropriate action on the report within the period of two months.
 
 
The spokesperson said that the departments have been prohibited to start parallel inquiry in those cases which have already been forwarded to the vigilance bureau for investigation. He said that it has been noticed that the administrative departments often postpone the sanction of prosecution which in turn delay the process of investigation by vigilance bureau.
