Dr. Atwal leaves for South Africa to participate in 59th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference

CHANDIGARH: Dr. Charnjit Singh Atwal, Speaker, Punjab Legislative Assembly departed from here to South Africa to participate in 59th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference there. Dr. Atwal has received an invitation to speak on the subject of "Parliamentary Response to Commonwealth Chapter" of Final Plenary Session to conclude the workshops conducted on all the subjects on the last day of the Conference.
 
 
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of Punjab Legislative Assembly said that Dr. Atwal asserted today that the need of the hour is to create an ideal society by strengthening upon the ideals of protection of human rights, peace, equality and tolerance. Apart from this, Dr. Atwal would present his views on subjects "Separation of Constitutional Powers and Good Governance" and "Inequitable Resources - Threat to Democratic Governance.
 
 
" It is worth mentioning here that the Speakers of 54 Commonwealth Countries are participating in the said conference.  Dr. Atwal, who remained Vice Chairman of Executive Committee of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, would deliberate with the Premiers/Speakers of South Africa and other countries on Legislative and Parliamentary Subjects during his South Africa Tour. During this tour, Dr. Atwal will also undertake study tours to Brazil, Panama and Mexico where he would discuss the issues of strengthening the social, economic and parliamentary relations of India with these countries."
