Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge organizing an ‘Oral Health Awareness’ drive on August 12 and 13.

CHANDIGARH-  Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh is organizing an ‘Oral Health Awareness’ drive on August 12 and 13. Principal-cum-Professor of the Dental Institute, Dr. Ashish Jain said that an array of informative and educative events has been planned in which the students, staff and faculty will actively participate. ‘Marching Towards Sparkling Smiles’ will be the theme of the two day event. 

The event commences on 12th August, 2013 with an educative  lecture ‘Aiming at Spreading Awareness about Oral Health Care and Ill Effects of Tobacco and Alcohol’.  The health talk shall be followed by a Balloon Rally by the students, interns and faculty of the Institute wherein socially and orally relevant messages will be spread through posters and placards.  The march which will start from the Institute to the Student Centre of PU, Chandigarh shall be followed by an informative street play on the importance of oral hygiene, demerits of tobacco and related products.  To spread the message, oral health care pamphlets and free toothpaste samples shall be distributed amongst the gathered public.  To mark the occasion, colourful balloons shall also be released.   Later in the day, a Rangoli competition will be held at the premises of the Institute.  The oral health awareness drive shall roll on to day 2 with participation from the various prestigious schools of the tricity. 

 

Day 2 shall begin with an audio visual presentation to the school children and their teachers, educating them about the prevalent oral diseases and their prevention. A knowledge based quiz competition shall be organized for the students of the participating schools and simultaneously a painting competition shall also be carried out.  The students and interns of the Institute shall lay a dental exhibition with colourful three dimensional educational and socially relevant models spreading knowledge about oral health.  The two day event will conclude with prize distribution ceremony for the winners and refreshments for all.

Awaring people through these lectures with theoretical as well as practical would let them know about all oral diseases and their respective prevention measures.
