CHANDIGARH- The week long 12th Training School on “Learning Methodologies in Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Medicinal and Analytical Aspects” conducted byUniversity Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University(PU) under UGC NRC programme concluded at Golden Jubilee Seminar Hall at PU campus today.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest Professor N. Chandrakumar, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, delivered the Valedictory Lecture on NMR in Pharmaceutical Science: High Resolution Spectroscopy, MRI and MRS. A brief report on the one-week long deliberations was presented by Prof. Ranju Bansal, Coordinator of the current training course. Renowned scientists and academicians from various academic institutes like Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh; IISER, Mohali; NIPER Mohali; and in house faculty of PU, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University, Himachal Pradesh; discussed on various aspects of medicinal and analytical chemistry. Resource persons from various companies namely Ind-Swift Ltd., Mohali; Thermo Fisher Scientific, Noida, Uttar Pradesh; CEM Corporation USA; Metrohm; Daiichi Sankyo India Pharma Private Limited, Haryana apprised the audience about the latest instrumental techniques and current thrust areas of pharmaceutical industry. Demonstration on HPTLC and CHN analyser, Proton NMR, LCMS was also imparted to the participants.
Professor Emeritus, UIPS, a well recognized academician and researcher in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. Harkishan Singh distributed certificates to the faculty participants. Prof. V. R. Sinha, Chairperson, UIPS, also presented his distinguished remarks. Feedback from the participants was also invited. Professor Poonam Piplani, Co-coordinator of the School, presented the Vote of Thanks for the success of the Summer School.
