Tamatar aur Matar ka Pulao

Rice cooked with tomato puree and green peas to make a delicious pulao.

Ingredients
Basmati rice,soaked 1 1/2 cups
 
Tomato puree 1 1/2 cups
 
Green peas 1/2 cup
 
Oil 1 tablespoon
 
Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
 
Asafoetida a pinch
 
Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
 
Salt to taste
 
Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
 
Fresh coriander leaves,chopped for garnish
 
Method
Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté for a minute. Add asafoetida and tomato puree, mix well, cover and cook till the oil surfaces.

Add rice, red chilli powder, salt and garam masala powder and mix well. Add two and a half cups water, stir to mix and bring to a boil. Cover and cook on medium heat for ten minutes.

Add green peas and mix well. Cover and cook till the rice is completely done. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Its a great recipe, Very simple to make and must go with any meal.
