Local bodies' minister suspends Deputy director and superintend on the charge of corruption

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mr. Anil Joshi today suspended Deputy Director Bhajan Singh and Superintend Jaspal Singh who were posted at head quarter, Chandigarh on the charges of corruption.
 
The Minister also deputed Mr. Rahul Tiwari, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana as an inquiry officer for further investigation. This was disclosed by Mr. Anil Joshi, Local Bodies Minister, Punjab in a press communiqué released here today.

 

Corruption and indiscipline would not be tolerated: Joshi

Mr. Joshi reiterated his resolve to weed out corruption in the rank and files of the department besides hassle free and time bound delivery of services to citizens. He said that corruption and indiscipline would not be tolerated at any cost and the guilty officers and employees would be not spaced at any cost.
 
The Minister further said that he had received many complaints regarding the corrupt practices in the local bodies department and government officers demanding bribe for delivery of services. While narrating reasons responsible for the suspension of these officers, the minister said that in the recent past he got a tip off from Mr. Sham Lal Kamboj, who earlier worked in the department as fire officer. Mr. Kamboj complained in an affidavit that these two officers in question has demanded bribe to the tune of Rs.3 lakh from the complaint in the month of June for getting some work done.
