Chandigarh : Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema General Secretary and Spokesman of Shiromani Akali Dal and Mr. Maheshinder Singh Grewal General Secretary SAD and Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today lashed out at Pratap Singh Bajwa, President Punjab Pradesh Congress and advised him to set his house in order first than comment on a successful and long political alliance between SAD-BJP in the country. The relationship between the two is going to be stronger with the combination with the combination set to win the Delhi assembly elections, they added.
In a joint statement issued here today, the two leaders said that it was strange that the Congress party was devoid of any political agenda while contesting the coming elections in the country. “The performance of the state Congress leadership equally reflects its unpopularity not only in the state but in the rank and file of the party”, they added. They also alleged that the Punjab congress under the leadership of Partap Singh Bajwa always echoed insensitivity and carelessness towards the burning issues of Punjab. After a series of electoral defeats, the Punjab congress leadership has become frustrated to the extent that it has started creating hurdles in the ongoing development activities launched by the SAD-BJP government in Punjab.
Referring to the generosity shown by the state Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal in taking Sunil Jakhal, leader of the opposition along with him to meet Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Chairman Planning Commission yesterday to New Delhi, they said that “it was sheer honesty and uprightness on the part of the patriarchal figure, Mr. Badal that he took the congress leader so that he could judge himself the well intentioned Chief Minister and the transparency with which he worked.” Adding further, they demanded Bajwa’s resignation as the state congress President because he has been a failure to keep his flock together. The Congress leaders were leaving the party in droves and even the senior Congress leaders were questioning Bajwa’s leadership. Out of this rejection from the people as well as his own party the dejected Bajwa was questioning the SAD-BJP’s strong plotical affiliation. Referring to the outburst of Capt. Amarinder Singh and later Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria (both MLAs) against the existing congress leadership as the voice of the party workers, they said that it projected the Punjab congress as a leaderless party.
