Fatehgarh Sahib-- In the follow-up of busting of a terrorist module by the Fatehgarh Sahib police, one Janpal Singh s/o late Angrej Singh r/o village Rangana, PS Chngyana, district Shamli (UP) has been arrested in a joint operation with the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS), Uttar Pradesh.
Disclosing this here today, Mr. Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib said that with this arrest, the total number of arrested persons in the terrorist module has gone up to 16, while the number of recovered weapons has increased to 13. He informed that Janpal Singh had figured in the investigation as the UP-based supplier of illegal weapons to the terrorist module, which had developed acquaintance through UAE-based channels.

He further said that Janpal Singh has been produced before the Judicial Magistrate on September 25, 2013 and his police remand for conducting further investigations has been obtained up to September 30, 2013. His arrest reveals the inter-state linkages developed by the terrorist modules with procurement of weapons from Maharashtra and UP.
He revealed that the further interrogation of Gurwinder Singh has led to recovery of another weapon from the area of the district. The efforts of the district police was to completely unveil all the inter-state linkages of the module and follow them up to logical conclusion so as to prevent the further supply of illegal weapons in the state. Further investigations are in progress, he concluded.
