Chandigarh: Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today lashed out at the Punjab congress party for having launched a misinformation campaign in the state on Punjab’s fiscal health. Terming the congress leaders as the “biggest enemy” of the state, Mr. Badal said that the Congress led UPA has been badly exposed in Punjab as well as in India and instead of accepting the defeat with grace it has bent on ruining the country.
Addressing a mammoth gathering at Nathana in Bathinda, Mr. Badal said that the leaders of the congress party knew that they were on the verge of being kicked out by the people of India and their days in power are numbered. The deputy chief minister said that the Congress led UPA has been branded as “anti-people” and has virtually lost every right to serve the nation.
RO plants to be installed in all Punjab villages
Speaking to the media after laying the foundation stone of 219.56 crore development projects in Bathinda, which mainly included the construction of Sudhar Ghar with the cost of Rs 196 crore, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the to strengthen the agriculture base of Punjab, water for purposes of irrigation would be provided to farmers at the tails. New irrigation line at Dhelwan Minor at Nathana was also inaugurated by Mr Badal, which was commissioned with Rs 18.80 crore. A cycle track and jogging path was also inaugurated by the deputy chief minister.
Reacting to the recent statement of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister Haryana expressing claims over Chandigarh, Mr. Badal reiterated that Chandigarh was an integral part of Punjab and would always remain so. On the central government’s directive to remove Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal’s pictures from the 108-Ambulances running in the state, the deputy Chief Minister dismissed the controversy saying that it only showed the hollowness of the Congress led UPA government. “It was unfortunate that the government has even threatened to stop the grants meant for Punjab people under National Rural Health Mission if we “do not toe their line of action”, said Mr. Badal. In order to provide safe drinking water to the people of Punjab especially in Malwa belt, Mr. Badal said that RO plants would be installed in all the villages in the coming months. As many as 3000 ROs have already been installed while 2000 ROs would be installed till December, he said.
