CHANDIGARH:The Punjab Government has set up EDUSAT linked to all the government colleges in the state in order to provide interactive and informative material to the College students. Besides this career counselling entrepreneurships and employment generation would also be ensured.
Disclosing this here today Mr. Avinash Chander Chief Parliamentary Secretary higher education Punjab said that employability lectures were also being imparted through this technology. EDUSAT a high profile Education Satellite which was launched by Indian Space Satellite Organisation (ISRO) was the first Indian Satellite built exclusively for serving the educational sector. EDUSAT was specially configures for audio-visual medium employing digital interactive classrooms and multimedia multi-centric system. The live as well as recorded lectures were beamed to the education institutions by a linking network.
This visual class work teaching with two way communication links offers new technologies for supporting effective teaching in colleges. He said that the basic aim of education through this satellite was to identify hard topics in all subjects, choose subject experts to deliver live lectures on those topic, to supplement and diversify the knowledge of the students and to make a data base of quality lectures which will be provided to all the government colleges.
He further said that around 350 lectures have been delivered on thirteen subject of science, arts and commerce. Employability programme was also telecast on preparation of competitive exams, self-employment options available to the students and lectures on various employment avenues. All government colleges have been provided generators to solve the problems of frequent power failure. He also said EDUSAT was proving to be a very powerful medium for the dissemination of latest and quality education to the students.
