CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today issued directions to all Deputy Commissioners to launch a sustained campaign in their districts to ensure 100 percent regularization of illegal colonies in their respective districts.
Accompanied by Mr. Chuni Lal Bhagat, Local Bodies Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue Minister and Mr. Anil Joshi, Industry and Commerce Minister, Mr. Badal was presiding over a meeting of Deputy Commissioners to review the progress of regularization of illegal colonies in the state. Mr. Badal said that all districts would have to expedite this task to achieve the goal of 100 percent regularization and made Deputy Commissioners of all districts accountable for this.
He said that till date only 1000 applications have been received in all the districts whereas there are more than 5500 illegal colonies having lakhs of illegal houses and plots. Mr. Badal asked Deputy Commissioners to allocate each colony to a specific officer, who would organize the camp in the precinct of the colony along with his team. The team with facilitate the applicants to fill up application forms, clear all formalities besides depositing their computation fee. He asked the Deputy Commissioners to tie up with lead banks of the region for the purpose of payment collection and draft making process. Mr. Badal said that the total process has been made online to facilitate the user but it would be the onus of team in charge to ensure that each and every house falling in the allocated colony to him should fulfil all formalities by the last date.
Mr. Badal clarified that every applicant has to apply by the last date that is 7th October 2013 and there would be no further extension. He said that the Punjab Cabinet has already clarified that this chance of regularization of illegal colony would be the last chance and no further chance would be given for regularization. He said that Punjab Government was committed not to allow any more illegal colonies in the state to maintain the planned character of the state.
Making Deputy Commissioners Mission In charge of Regularization, Mr. Badal asked them to submit weekly report to his office and by October 7 they would certify that there was no single unauthorized colony in their district. Mr. Badal in a meeting with colonizers sought their cooperation in this massive exercise and made clear to them that there would be no change or relaxation in the policy.
