Chandigarh, May 21 : The  ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine is heading for a clean sweep in the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti polls with winning a clear majority in 6 of the total 22 Zila Parishads and 43 out of 146 Block Samitis. The alliance is leading in most of the seats as per the results and trends available till 7.00 pm. 
Disclosing the results in a statement released from the party head office here today, the SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema informed that in the SAD-BJP combine has secured clear majority in Amritsar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Faridkot, Mohali and Patiala Zila Parishads. He said that a total of 117 candidates of the alliance have won their seat out of a total of 333 seats as per the results declared till 7.00 pm. He further said similarly the alliance has won clear majority in 43 Block Samitis out of total 146 Block Samitis in the state. He said that 851 candidates of the SAD-BJP combine have won their seats out of a total of 2732 seats in the state. He said that in Amritsar district the party has made a clean sweep with winning all the 9 Block Samitis of Raiya, Chogwan, Tarsikka, Harsh Chinna, Jandiala Guru, Verka, Ajanala, Majitha and Attari. In Barnala the alliance has won Shehna, in Bathinda district Rampura, Phul, Bhagta Bhai ka and Nathana Samitis, both the samitis in Faridkot namely Faridkot and Kotakpura, in Fatehgarh Sahib alliance has won Bassi Pathana and Khera, in Fazilka district it has won Fazilka, Abohar, Jalabad and Arniwala Samitis. Similarly in Ferozepur district the alliance has secured clear majority in Zira and Guruharsahai, in Gurdaspur it has won Kahnuwan, in Jalandhar it has won Lohian Khas and Shahkot, in Kapurthala district it has won Nadala, in Ludhiana the alliance has won Sidhwan Bet and Jagraon samitis, in Mansa district it has won Mansa, Bhikhi, Jhunir and Sardoolgarh samitis. He said that in Mohali district it has secured majority in Majri and Derabassi samitis, in Mukatsar distrit the alliance has secured clear majority in Mukatsar and Malout samitis, in Nawanshehr district it has won in Sadoya samiti. In Patiala the alliance has swept the samitis of Sanour, Ghanour, Nabha and Samana and in Sangrur it has secured majority in Dirba Block Samiti. Dr. Cheema said that as per the results and trends alliance would completer sweep these polls.
