Punjab Govt constitutes a state level committee to solve Water Logging problems

Chandigarh:Punjab Government has constituted a state level committee for preparation of an exhaustive surface and underground drainage infrastructure master plan for water-logged areas of southern Punjab for Identification of the extent of problem, causes of the problem, remedies, coordinated action plan and costs in the state. The notification in this regard has been issued.


The Spokesman of the Irrigation Department said that the committee would be comprised of Gen B.S. Dhaliwal, Technical Advisor to Chief Minister as Chairman and Er. M. R. Goyal, Er. S.K. Goyal, Chief Engineer/Drainage, Chief Engineer/Canals, Chief Engineer/Irrigation Power Research Institute, Director Central Design Office, Chief Engineer/ PWD(B&R), Chief Engineer/Mandi Board and Chief Engineer/Panchayati Raj (all its members).


He furthers said that the Committee would commence its work with immediate effect and would submit the report within 30 days. Every Chief Engineer will be assisted by one superintending Engineer and two Executive Engineers. Principal Secretary Irrigation and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab will review the progress after two weeks.
