Chandigarh: The special courts have convicted one government officer and two private persons in two different prosecution cases contested by the State Vigilance Bureau.
Disclosing this here today, Mr. Suresh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance BureauPunjabsaid that Bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere in the State. In this direction, the Vigilance officers succeeded in securing convictions of tainted employees in prosecution cases and ensured that suspect should not escape judicial punishment in the courts.
The Vigilance Chief said that the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Pathankot has sentenced Dharm Pal Forest Guard Pathankot u/s 409 IPC and 13(1) D, 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act for 10 years imprisonment and Rs. 17,000 as fine. In another case the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Amritsar has convicted Inder Mohan and Dr. Ragav Wadhwa by awarding imprisonment of three years each and fine amounting to Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 4,000 respectively u/s 420,467,468,471,120-B IPC registered by the Bureau at Amritsar.
