Chandigarh-- The Punjab Government has approved an ambitious plan to construct three new Sudhar Ghars (Jails) with the investment of Rs. 442 crore. The construction work would commence from the month October 2013 and would be completed till March 2015.
Disclosing this here today Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Minister for Public Works Department said that the Punjab Government is working on the agenda of upgrading the infrastructure and the number of Sudhar Ghars in the state to provide better in house faculties and to decongest the Sudhar Ghars from the inflow of the inmates. He said Building Construction Wing of the PWD would construct these three Sudhar Ghars.
Mr. Dhillon said that all these three Sudhar Ghar (Jails) are expected to be completed within 18 months. He added that construction work of Amritsar Sudhar Ghar would be constructed with the estimated cost of RS 156 Crore, Bathinda Sudhar Ghar with the estimated cost of RS 195 Crore and Sri Mukatsar Sahib Sudhar Ghar would be constructed with the estimated cost of RS 91 crore.
He said that the chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has taken keen interest in upgrading the physical infrastructure of Sudhar Ghars. He said that Rs. 442 crore has been set aside by the Punjabgovernment for this task. Mr. Dhillon reiterated the SAD-BJP Government’s resolve to provide total face lift to the cities with the construction of State of Artinfrastructure. He said that the PWD has been working on high pace to re-carpet the old roads, construction of new road in the rural areas and four/six laning of Major highways in the state.
