CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has selected 32 personalities who have earned distinction in various fields for the state award. The state awards would be conferred upon these personalities at the state level Independence Day function to be held atLudhiana.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesman of the Punjab government said that Mr. Amarjit Singh Tonna has been chosen for bravery, Mr Parmjit Singh, Jasbir Kaur Sandhu, Mr. Akarman Singh Shammi, Mr. Sheetal Prakash, Dr. Devaki Nandan Khar, Dr. Neelam Sodhi, Dr. Jagbir Singh, Mr. Varinder Kumar Lakhanpal. Mr. Harpreet Singh Bhandari and Mr. Amrik Singh would be given away state award for social service. Similarly Mr. Gurmukh Singh Lally Art (Music), Dr. Davinder Singh China Art (Culture), Ninder Ghuanavi Art (literature) and Mr. Kewal Dhaliwal for Art (theatre), whereas Bridg.(retd.) Manjit Singh, Dr. Mohammad Habib and Dr. Madhu Prashar would be conferred with state award for professional excellence.
He said that Mr. Amtitpal singh Art, Jyoti Saroop, Amrit Jain, Balwinder Singh Shammi, Manjit Singh Sandhu, Harsukhpreet Singh, Sikander Singh Tiwana, Pradeep Kumar, Gurtej Singh, Kewal and Meena Sharma for professional excellence, Dr. Sukhpal Singh for science and Technology & Professional excellence, Dr. Rajwant Kaur, Art (literature & culture) and Dr. H.S. Dhaliwal would be awarded for meritorious achievements in the sector of science and technology.
