5 WTF moments in Deepika Singh and Anas Rashid’s Diya Aur Baati Hum!

Though the show has number one ranking in TRP’s at the moment, we shift the focus to some moments in the plot which were bizarre and made us go,”WTF?” Read away!

Deepika Singh and Anas Rashid starrer Diya Aur Baati Hum created quite a stir when it first hit our television screens. A story about an aspiring police officer Sandhya who hails from a small town and wishes to achieve her goals, the show inspired many women to break free from social obligations and go ahead to fulfill their dreams. But like many other daily soaps, DABH seems to have lost its plot as well. We have already proven the show’s hijack plot to be a flop with the viewers with a poll conducted by us (see results here). Here are 5 moments in the show which made us go WTF:H-I-J-A-C-K= Hijack

The same may seem simple math to us but to police officer Sandhya Rathi, it was equivalent to rocket science. With the alphabets spelt out on a paper in a jumbled manner, the task at hand for Sandhya was to form the word. What was appalling to see was her taking almost a million years to solve the obvious. Not so bright for an officer now is it?

Prema’s disguise

Prema had to disguise herself in order to not get noticed by Sandhya or rest of the family members. What we found hideous was the avatar she was given to sport in the show. Hiding a revolver beneath a heavy and chunky neckpiece that she wore, Prema also topped the same with a zillion other necklaces and pair of bangles. All in all, the plotter could have been given a much better disguise. Instead, the makers chose to present her as Ms Tacky rather than an unrecognisable lady!

Maya Maya everywhere

What we found utterly bizarre was Maya’s(Gurdeep Kohli) ability to be at the exact moment and time, dressed as either a shop vendor or a vegetable seller when plotting her game plan with peers Disha and Maya. This was done so that she could trick the police officers into believing that she was merely one of the many members of the crowd. So basically she is omnipresent with various disguises, which means she is God?

It’s boring and we’re snoring

The entire hijack plot on the whole seemed far-fetched and was prolonged much to our despair. Right from its inception, till its presentation, the storyline seemed to be reaching heights which seemed to defy logic on the whole. Be it Prema and Disha’s oh-so-awesome scheme to make it through security with weapons or Maya’s cat and mouse game with Sandhya, it all should have ended long ago but sadly didn’t!

And so it began

Right when we thought Sooraj(Anas Rashid) had managed to capture Maya and her peers during the hijack, the plot was stretched unnecessarily when Prema was seen tricking the passengers into believing that she was ill and was let off for the same! What happened next? An endless saga of Maya threatening Sandhya to kill her husband and mother-in- law and the latter trying to come up with ways to rescue her loved ones.
