State level painting competition on energy conservation

BBMB organized “ on the spot” state level painting competition on energy conservation
300 children participated from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh

The ministry of power Government Of India has launched nationwide program on energy conservation in the country, to sensitize the school children about the need for conserving energy as also to educate and involve their parents in this cause. To strengthen the cause on the spot state level painting competition was organized at Indradhanush auditorium Panchkula Today in which 300 children from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh participated. Sh M S Khural, Engineer in Chief, Generation BBMB was the chief guest on this occasion.
 
In his address to the children and the teachers or guardians accompanying the children, Mr Khural said that children can play most important role in energy conservation as it is the need of hour. If we educate on child he or she can bring awareness in and around twenty people more. This is the organic way we can spread the awareness to conserve energy. It’s more important to tell the children to use LED lights rather than CFL or traditional tube light in their homes or at their parent’s workplace. There are other methods to save energy by switching over to solar energy. Mr Khural congratulated the winners of on the spot painting competition and gave away the cash prize of 20,000/-, 15000/- and 10000/- in each category along with ten consolation prizes of 2500/- each.
 
Further speaking on the occasion Mr khural said that The ministry of Power and Government of India undertakes Pan India National awareness Campaign by organizing painting competition for 4th, 5th and 6th standards under category A and for 7th, 8th and 9th standards under category B. The competition is being held in three stages, namely, school, state and national level. Students under category A and B are eligible to participate in the competition. Cash prizes worth Rs 70,000/- per state/ UT per Category were distributed to the state level winners on day of competition on 15th November, 2014. For the winners of both the categories of National competition, cash prizes worth Rs 10.35Lakhs will be awarded on 14th Decmber,2014.
50 best paintings plus 5 reserves each for categories A and B will be selected by a committee of experts/jury. Each participating student from category A and B was paid Rs 1000/- in cash and a participation certificate.
