CPS Navjot Sidhu’s erractic and bizarre behavior intolerable in coalition politics – Virsa Valtoha

(SAD leader ask Mrs Sidhu to answer whether she and her husband made calls to Capt Amarinder during the Lok Sabha election campaign)

(Also asks her to explain why her relatives campaigned for Amarinder and Preneet and why she backstabbed her political guru – Arun Jaitely)

Amritsar, November 15 – Punjab chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Virsa Singh Valtoha today said BJP CPS Mrs Navjot Sidhu was continuing to behave in an erratic and bizarre manner by refusing to confront the truth and tell the people why she back stabbed her party as well as her political guru Shri Arun Jaitely in the Lok Sabha elections and why her relatives campaigned for Capt Amarinder Singh in Amritsar and later for Mrs Preneet Kaur in the Patiala assembly by poll.

“We want simple answers to our questions”, said Mr Valtoha adding the BJP Amritsar East mla should also tell the people whether she and her husband spoke to Capt Amarinder Singh or not during the Lok Sabha election campaign. “You should also tell whether you are part of the BJP or part of a two person (husband and wife) ‘me and mera’ team which uses the BJP’s tag only when it suits them. Since the party is of no importance to you, please explain whether you are a Congress stooge who is playing according to a well laid out Congress game plan”, the akali leader said.

Mr Valtoha said one could not behave differently when he or she wanted something from someone and adopt a different stance to further one’s naked personal ambition otherwise. “Is it not true that your husband gave a statement in 2009 saying his ‘pagri’ and his honour had been saved from ruin due to the senior SAD leadership of Amritsar which had supported him wholeheartedly and was responsible for his slender 6,000 vote victory over Congress candidate O P Soni from this parliamentary constituency? What caused you to forget this gratitude?” the akali leader asked.

He said Mrs Sidhu and her husband Navjot displayed a similar behavior in the run up to the parliamentary elections also. He said the couple sang paeans in favour of Shri Arun Jaitely and even averred the central leader was their political guru. “However all this changed when Mr Jaitely was nominated as the party candidate from Amritsar. The Sidhu couple forgot their loyalty to Mr Jaitely immediately and displayed their opportunistic colours again. This only shows you are routinely ungrateful to those to succor and sustain you as you are ready to sacrifice everything at the altar of personal greed and naked ambition?” the akali leader said.

Reacting to Mrs Sidhu’s statement to the media yesterday, the akali leader said the BJP Amritsar East mla had now invented a further excuse to up the ante against the SAD and was hallucinating about a promise of funds only she knew of. He said Mrs Sidhu's constituency received around Rs 75 crore from only two heads of municipal corporation and the improvement trust. He said leave aside other heads, Mrs Sidhu was also  the largest recipient of MPLAD funds from her husband Navjot  Sidhu.

The akali leader said the issue of funds or lack of them was never an issue as far as the BJP mla’s constituency was concerned. “The issue is of her personal ambition and that of her husband”, he said adding the SAD had no role to play in this matter. He said it was for the BJP to take a decision on elevating Mrs Sidhu or her husband Navjot.

Stating that erratic and bizarre behaviour was intolerable in coalition politics, the akali leader said Mrs Sidhu could not enjoy being in the government and simultaneously oppose coalition candidates and even sit in Congress Dharnas. "This shows you have little respect for your own State president who has rebuked you for speaking out of turn as well as party seniors who are responsible for taking decisions on coalition matters", he added.
