As many as 67 people were evacuated by 'Mighty Jet' a Chandigarh
based IL 76 squadron, from Srinagar. 10 out of them were rescued by
Air Force Helicopter at Srinagar who were in a critical condition and
looking for survival.

     
Morning at around 09:00 hrs the IL-76  with 67 civilians landed
at 12 Wing and  answering the call of duty the 12Wing, Air Force acted
 war footage and opened a relief camp. The rescued personnel were
extended with medical facilities and food. Chandigarh based 12 Wing, Air Force then
arranged transportation for their onward journey to ISBT, Chandigarh
and Railway Station. Most of them were from UP, Bihar and Delhi. Gp
Capt Sameer Bhalla Station Commander 12Wing, Air Force and other
senior Officers have taken personal care  and interacted with them to
get them relived  from mental stress and facilitated them for their
onward journey.


  Both the squadron of 12 Wing 48 Squadron (AN-32) and 44 Squadron
(IL-76) are relentlessly flying day and night for the last 48 hours.
A total of 26 sorties were undertaken by AN-32 in which 180 NDRF
personnel, 72 Army and 108 Air Force personnel were airlifted till 08
Sept 2014. While  IL-76 air lifted 72 Ton load in last 48 hours. Three ( 03) IL-76
and three ( 03) AN-32 aircraft are actively involved  in  on going relief
operation and 03 remaining on stand by.
