Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) would be setting up a
state-of-the-art Startup Hub in the campus of Shaheed Udham Singh
(SUS) Group of Institutes at Tangori.
A memorandum of understanding was signed here today by Manipal
Dhariwal, President of SACC and Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu, chairman of
the SUS Group of Institutes.
Manipal Dhariwal said that encouraging entrepreneurship is the core
objective of SACC, and in the process, develop a robust enabling
ecosystem that could help startups to thrive.
Punjabis are equipped with the entrepreneurial genes that makes them
into productive risk takers and innovators, he said, and only thing
lacking here is mentoring, incubating and funding, which SACC through
its own strong network within and outside the country is strategizing
to plug the holes.
Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu, chairman of the SUS Group of Institutes said
that SACC has already established a track record of transforming
students into entrepreneurs with its successful Startup Weekend held
in July, and our students are now looking at the success stories of
the youngsters who topped in this event from our institute.
SACC is already nurturing and mentoring the team of five youngsters in
setting up their own company and marketing their products, he said.
The future of our country lies in entrepreneurship and with
organizations like SACC there to hand-hold the youngsters with ideas
to help them convert it into an innovative business solution, the new
generation has a great future to look forward to, he remarked.
SACC has been approached by a number of educational institutes to
setup the Startup Hubs to encourage entrepreneurship and help their
students incubate their ideas, Manipal Dhariwal informed.
SACC through its collaboration with US based UP Global to organize
54-hours Startup Weekends, and having successfully organized at EDC in
July, is all set to take this exciting entrepreneurial programme to
other colleges including Chandigarh University’s two campuses, at SUS
Tangori, and University of Petroleum in Dehradun.
SACC is also setting up its own incubation centre and co-working space
for the startups at Mohali and an angels’ investors group is in place
to seed fund the startups, he informed.
