On Sunday 31st of August, 2014; the cops invaded a hotel located at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad as they were informed about the prostitution racket.

Shweta Basu, who has won the National Film Award for the film ‘Makdee’ was caught red handed by the police along with several businessmen who were involved in the racket. 

The young cheerful actress has also featured in a couple of Bollywood movies like ‘Iqbal’ and ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’. More light is yet to be plunged on those businessmen who were involved and it can be only revealed after the interrogations that the police would undergo. 

After a lot of investigation and interrogation, some sources revealed Shweta’s statement, where she stated: “I have made wrong choices in my career and I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act. I’m not the only one who faced this problem and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase. “
