Mohali: Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) would honor Dr. Rajneesh Arora, VC, PTU on the eve of 18th Foundation Day Ceremony of Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar. The function would be held in Convention Hall of Pushpa Gujaral Science City, Kapurthala. The decision was taken today in a meeting held under the leadership of Dr. J.S Dhaliwal, President, PUTIA.
Giving more information, Dr. Anshu Kataria, Convener, PUTIA said that PUTIA would present a memento & Shawl to Dr Rajneesh Arora for his splendid contribution in the Education sector.
It is worth mentioning that born in Fazilka, Dr. Rajneesh Arora has an unbeaten record of winning Gold Medals in Matric as well as Higher Secondary of Punjab School Education Board Examination to his credit. Dr. Arora attained B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D both from prestigious IIT Delhi. He joined as Vice chancellor, PTU, Jalandhar on 24 December 2008.
It is also to be mentioned that Dr. Rajneesh Arora is member of Board of Governors of IIT,Delhi; Punjab State Council of Science & Technology; National Institute of Technical Teacher Training, Chandigarh; Member of Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Chandigarh and Member, Governing Body, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Chandigarh.
In 1982, he went to the tribal area of Bihar (now Jharkhand) and started a voluntary organization “Vikas Bharti”, Bishunupur (Distt. Gumla) for application of Science and Technology for the development of tribal people. Here he successfully implemented many projects of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of non–Conventional Energy Sources (MNES), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Council for Advanced People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) as Coordinator.
