Mohali: A delegation of Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) under the guidance of Dr J S Dhaliwal, President, PUTIA recently attended a conference organized by Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI). The Conference was held at India International Centre, New Delhi. The main agenda of the conference was the recent draft regulations for Technical Institutions issued by UGC.
The conference was attended by Mr Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, Lovely Professional University (LPU); Ms Shalini Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University (DBU); Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges etc. In the meeting, the leading Private Institutions discussed about the latest regulations by UGC under which there are proposals to withdraw the control of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Private Institutes.
Welcoming the step of UGC, Mr Ashok Mittal said that Govt. has shown the soft corner for Education. Govt. has taken each aspect into consideration while making policy like students, staff, parents, management of the colleges etc. Ms Shalini Gupta said that more freedom should be given to the Universities. Dr Anshu Kataria emphasized on need of quick decision making in the system. Kataria also asserted the need of simplifying the norms and procedure of approvals.
