Rs. 400 crore to be incurred to cover all 13 major towns

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today finalized the proposed water supplies and sewerage projects for Bathinda and Mansa districts at cost of 400 crore.

 

Giving directions to the concerned departments to initiate tender proceedings with commencement of work before mid January, Mr. Badal said that this comprehensive project list would provide 100 percent cover of water supply and sewerage to all 13 towns of duo districts. He said that with the commencement of work Goniana, Bhucho, Phul, Maur Mandi, Kotfatta, Sangat Mandi, Talwandi Sabo, Rama Mandi, Mansa, Bhikhi, Sardulgarh, Budhlada and Bareta towns would have water supply and sewerage facilities with a total of Rs. 400 crore. 


Mr. Badal informed that Bathinda and Mansa would be developed as model districts having all basic and ultra modern facilities. Adding further he said that water supply and sewerage project would be implemented on built, operate and maintenance basis for the next 10 years. He has also directed to upgrade and strengthen the road networks at Abohar, Malout and Gidderbaha towns. He informed that Mandi Board was constructing new link roads, upgrading and widening the old ones with a focus to meet the needs of next 20 years. 

Asking the concerned department to complete the projects within given deadlines, Deputy CM clarified that there would be no compromise on quality measures. He ordered that companies having international standard should be engaged to provide 100 percent sewerage and 24X7 potable water supply. He said that Water Supply and Sanitation department would start the work relating to laying of water supply pipelines within one month to complete the project within stipulated time frame for the facilitation of Malwa residents.
