Survey on out-of-school-children to be concluded till December 26: Maluka

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has issued instructions to complete the survey on out-of-school-children between 6 to 14 years of age till December 26, 2013. It was disclosed by Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister, Punjab. He said that objective behind this survey is to provide basic education to all the out-of-school-children in the state.

Mr. Maluka said that it is the mandate of the Punjab Government to provide free and compulsory education to all the children up to
class-VIII. He further said that during the survey, the teams of Education Department would go in all the distant and de-marginalized
areas like; brick-kilns, railway stations, slums and the inhabitations of migrant labourers. Education Minister said that the information
thus collected through the survey would be incorporated in the annual report of the year 2014-15 of the state government.
