IGP rank officer deputed for the speedy redressal of under investigation of NRI complaints: IGP Gurpreet Deo

Chandigarh/ Mohali: All complaints related to NRI’s should be sent to the NRI Police Wing so that they could be disposed at the earliest. Presiding over a meeting here today at the head Office of the NRI Police wing to review the progress of all the 11 NRI Police stations IGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo said that Punjab Government has established independent NRI Police Wing for the speedy and transparent disposal of NRI Complaints. She instructed all the officers that all the complaints should be dealt on merit without any discrimination and Zero tolerance of Corruption in the department.

 

  • 3200 NRI complaints received during 2013, 65 % disposed off
  • Total 270 FIR’s registered regarding NRI complaints, out of which 160 registered at NRI police stations 
  • Complaints received from 30 countries

IGP Deo said that this year 3200 complaints regarding NRI issues have been received and out of which 60 % are related to property disputes, 30 matrimonial disputes and 10 other type of disputes. She said that out these complaints 65% have been disposed off. She added that total 270 FIR’s have been registered related to NRI issues out of which 160 have been registered at NRI Police stations.

 

IGP Deo gave clear cut instructions to the Heads of the NRI Police Stations that all FRI’s should registered after proper investigation and all the evidence should be put on record. She also said that all complaints should be dealt on merit and no discrimination would be tolerated.

 

IGP Deo said that IGP Rank Officer has been deputed for the speedy disposal of under investigation of NRI complaints. Punjab Police have received complaints from 30 countries, out of which most of the complaints are from Canada, America, UK and Australia respectively. IGP said that in the state 11 NRI Police stations are operational which have been connected with the Head Office of the NRI Police Wing.

 

IGP also appealed to the NRI’s that they should register complaints online and could also check the status of their complaint online. She added that this has been done for providing hassle free service to the NRI,s. Others prominent present in the meeting included DIG Mr. LK Yadhav, AIG Mr. Harpreet Singh Sandhu, DSP NRI Jalandhar Jastinder Singh, DSP NRI Kanwalpal Singh, DSP Headquarter Mrs Deepinder Kaur and Heads of the NRI Police Stations.
