Vigilance nabs divisional soil conservator in bribery case

Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed divisional soil conservation officer red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000. Disclosing this here today Mr. Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau has caught Bhajan Lal soil conservator posted at Patiala demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000 from complainant Rakesh Singh of M/S Bala Ji Irrigation Systems Ltd.

 

He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that soil conservator was demanding Rs. 4,000 as a bribe from him for releasing his cheques relating to work done by the company. After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Mr K.D. Sharma, SP Vigilance Bureau Patiala laid a trap and the accused was nabbed red handed accepting Rs. 4,000 in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from him. In this regard a vigilance case under u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
