National livestock championship at Sri Muktsar Sahib

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government is organizing 5th national livestock championship from January 8 to January 12, 2014 at Sri Muktsar Sahib with a view to boost milk production in the state.

Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike presided over a meeting with all deputy commissioners and filed officers of the department at Punjab Bhawan here today and directed them to launch an awareness campaign in this regard. He said that cash awards and certificates would be given to the winners. The also directed to constitute different committees to assist and educate the farmers in this regard, so that maximum farmers can take advantage of this mega event.

 

He said that a special milking competition would also be held during the event besides dancing competition of horses.The Minister further said that the instructions have been issued to all concerned officials to provide free green fodder for livestock during these fairs. He said that free lodging and boarding would also be provided to livestock owners.
