PUTIA Delegation meets Technical Education Minister

Chandigarh: A delegation of Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) met Technical Education Minister, Punjab Sh.Madan Mohan Mittal in Udyog Bhawan today. Chancellors & Chairmen of Renowned Universities & Colleges were part of the delegation.

On one hand, delegation appreciated the efforts done by Punjab Government to makePunjabas one of the most progressive states. On other hand, the delegation requested the Minister to include Education sector under the categories of Industries included in the scope of new Industrial Policy of Punjab.

 

Mr Ashok Mittal, LPU; Ms Madhu Chitkara, Chitkara University; Dr Zora Singh, DBU; Mr Manjeet Singh, Doaba Group; Mr Gurvinder Bahra, Rayat Bahra Group; Dr Anshu Kataria, Aryans Group; Mr Sukhdev Singla, Indo Global College; Mr H P S Kanda, Quest Group; Mr Gurpreet Singh, Universal Group, Mr Ashok Garg & Mr Ashwani Garg, SVIET etc. were part of the delegation.

 

The delegation said thatPunjabis one of the largest Educational Industries of North India having investment of more than 10,000 crores. InPunjab, there are 5 lakh students studying in more than 500 Unaided Colleges. A student spends an average of Rs.1 lakh on Technical Education in an year creating revenue of 5,000 crores per year in the shape of Cost of Education, Transport, Hostel and other expenses. Apart from this, the Education Industry is not only creating employment for teaching and non teaching staff but also act as bread winner of many allied Industries like Construction, Transport, Furniture, other Equipments etc.

The delegation further said that these colleges are catering to the needs of students of not only Punjab but also the students of other states ofIndiaand other countries too. They added that this industry is also attracting lot of business houses now. Many Industrialists have announced the opening of Campuses inPunjab.

 

According to the delegation, Education is now becoming as the biggest catalyst of growth of our state ensuring dispersion of prosperity in as many sections of the society, giving a big push to employment and generating revenue in form of direct and indirect taxes, cess, charges etc.

 

After listening to the demands of the delegation, Sh Mittal assured the delegation that considering the importance of Education sector inPunjab, steps will be taken in favor of the Educational Institutions. He added that Punjab Govt. will put best possible efforts for the betterment of Education Industry.
