CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has been providing subsidy on the construction of Silage Silo Pits (SSPs) to the livestock farmers in the state. Disclosing this here today Animal Husbandry, Fishery and Dairy Development Minister, Punjab S. Gulzar Singh Ranike said that the state government has taken this initiative to increase the daily farming and milk production. He said that applications have been invited from Scheduled Castes dairy farmers to provide them subsidy for the construction of silo pits of various sizes.
The minister further said that an amount of Rs. 10,000/- as subsidy would be given for the construction of 100 quintal capacity silo pit whereas Rs.25,000/- on 1000 quintal capacity silo pit; Rs.70,000/- on 1200 quintal capacity silo pit and 1,05,000/- on silo unit (silo pit & Cutter).
He also said that Scheduled Castes dairy farmers could get specimen Performa from the nearest block level Veterinary Hospital and submit their applications for the construction of silo pit on subsidy, added the Minister. He further said that the availability of nutritious fodder throughout the year was essential for profitable dairy farming. Every dairy farmer must preserve surplus fodder in the form of silage or hay, suggested Mr. Ranike.
