Chandigarh : The Punjab Government today approved Rs.74.11 lac to upgrade the infrastructure of ITI, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar with ultra modern machinery to provide professional education to the students of border areas. Disclosing this here today Mr. Anil Joshi, Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister, Punjab said that this grant would be used to procure ultra modern machinery to provide professional education as per changing needs of the industry. He said that focus of training students on modern gadgets was to increase their employability in the industry of new economy. Mr. Joshi said that hospitality and tourism courses have also been started in the ITI, Amritsar and separate building was under construction. Mr. Joshi also instructed the technical education department to provide education to the students with ultra modern techniques and ensure placement of students. He also said that with the increasing demand of the industry efforts should be done to start boiler operator, STD operator and medical transcryption courses in the ITIs.
