CHANDIGARH:The Punjab Government has decided to infuse new technologies in Dairy Farming across the state to promote it on the scientific and modern lines in pursuance with the broad objective of agriculture diversification program. A decision to this effect was taken Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting held here on Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday late evening with the members of a delegation recently returned from Israel after having taken 12-day training in modern dairy practices and techniques.
The delegation comprised nine progressive dairy farmers, two officers from the Dairy Development Department, a Veterinary Officer from Animal Husbandry Department and an Associate Professor from GADVASU, Ludhiana, while the Financial Commissioner, Animal Husbandry and Director, Dairy also attended the training session for the last two days.

The Chief Minister directed all the concerned departments to chalk out a comprehensive plan to further disseminate the knowledge of Israeli techniques and processes to the dairy farmers in the state and make these latest dairy practices popular by extending lucrative incentives to them. On the occasion, Director Dairy Development apprised Mr. Badal through a power point presentation highlighting various aspects of dairy farming in Israel besides throwing light on the technical skills in the fields of Animal Housing (cattle sheds), Heat Stress Management, Artificial Insemination, Planning Rations for High Yielding Cows, Calf Rearing, Record Keeping and Milk Pricing System.
Meanwhile, the progressive dairy farmers who were sent to Israel for training profusely thanked the Chief Minister, for offering an opportunity to up-grade their technical skills in the field of dairy farming.After detailed discussions on pros and cons of each & every technique and process, it was decided to adopt the Israeli dairy techniques and practices in housing management, animal feeding, value addition & solar power generation in dairy sector.
