Punjab initiates skill development courses for the wards of ex-servicemen – Valtoha

CHANDIGARH,--     Punjab Government has initiated Skill Development Courses for Ex-servicemen/their widows/wards and children in the various districts/Tehsils across the state. Disclosing this here today, Chief Parliamentary Secretary S. Virsa Singh Valtoha said that the purpose of these courses is to provide self employment to Ex-servicemen/their widows/wards and children.

 

He said that these courses would be started in Amritsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozpur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hosihiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Sri Mukatsar Sahib,Patiala, Mohali, Roopnagar and Sangrur. He added that these courses would also be started in the remaining districts after availing the required space.Giving details of the courses Mr. Valtoha said that under this scheme Punjab Government would run the Ayurvedic Therapy Course for 12th pass, Electrical Technician, Refrigeration & air-conditioning, computer application certificate course, homeopathic dispensing certificate course for 10th pass students. He further said mainly these courses would be of one year but Plumbing and beauty culture course for 8th pass and Cutting, tailoring &dress making course would be for six months.

 

He further said that all concerned articles and books would be provided free of cost during the course and Punjab Government would bear the 80% of the total fee of the course. Mr. Valtoha said that these courses would be run like other regular courses. Interested students may contact their respective district defence service welfare office for their registration.
