LUDHIANA,: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has finally agreed to consider the expanding of space below the
separator/flyover in Mullanpur town which will provide immense relief to the people as it will provide more open space for all kinds’
movement and traffic.
According to the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari, who chaired a high level meeting of senior officials of the
Road Transport Ministry and the representatives from Mullanpur at his official residence in New Delhi, instead of one span, now there will be three spans, and 27 meters of extra open space on each side below
the separator/flyover.
While earlier there was only 30 meter space, now it will be 84 meters total space below the separator/flyover. The extra 54 meters, 27 meters on each side, will facilitate the smooth flow of both pedestrian as well as the vehicular traffic. Tewari, who represents Luhdiana parliamentary constituency under which area falls, had earlier led a delegation of the area to the Road Transport and Highways Minister Mr Oscar Fernandes he had issued the directions in this regard. Today’s meeting was held as a follow up for the action being taken on the matter.
The local residents have been demanding that the separator/flyover, coming up on the National Highway-95, should be constructed in such a way that it does not divide the city into two parts. They have been demanding sufficient space on both sides to ensure free movement.The Road Transport and Highways ministry has agreed to consider the changes and expansion in the open space and necessary measures will soon be initiated.
Today’s meeting was attended among others by Sandeep Sailas, Private Secretary to the Road Transport and Highways Minister Oscar Fernandes, Bipnesh Sharma, Project Director, company representative AP Singh,besides representatives from Mullanpur, who included Telu Ram Bansal, Sarvarinder Singh Cheema, Baldev Raj Saraf, Ravinder Singh Bindri,Ashish Khurana, Harinder Singh Jimmy, Ravijot Singh and Amarjit Joshi.
