National Scheduled Castes Commission summon's Punjab Govt on October 7

Chandigarh--- While taking a serious note of the non-serious attitude of Punjab Government towards the implementation of various welfare schemes and plans meant for the state scheduled castes now the National Scheduled Castes Commission (NSCC) has summoned the state government with its implementation report on the same.

Giving details about the same the national president of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance, a political outfit formed for the welfare of the scheduled castes in the country, and an NGO the Chamar Mahan Sabha, Paramjit Singh Kainth in a statement issued here told that the NSCC has summoned Punjab Government on October 7, 2013 i.e. Monday to explain its conduct over this issue i.e. to produce the action taken report. He said that the commission has summoned the state's Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary as well as the Welfare Secretary on that date along with the record and report about the action taken till.

It may be mentioned here that earlier on the commission's chairman, Dr. P.L.Punia had given an assurance about the same to a delegation of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) an the Chamar Mahan Sabha (CMS) led by Paramjit Singh Kainth during a meeting held at Dr. Punia's official residence in New Delhi.

During that vary meeting Dr. Punia assured the delegation of NSCA and CMS that the commission is going to ask the state government particularly its chief secretary to show some kind of seriousness about the state scheduled castes as they are having a population of over 35 per cent in the state's total population. He also told that how strange the things are going on in Punjab as the government working there is trying to play with the sentiments of the weaker sections and deprived castes living there though they are contributing so much of population.

While giving details of the meeting the National President of NSCA, Paramjit Singh Kainth claimed that during the meeting Dr. Punia also hinted that he was very much annoyed with the state's chief secretary in view of his indifferent attitude towards the commission's proceedings as in the last meeting chief secretary absent him due to reasons best known to him.
He even claimed that Dr. Punia has also assured the delegation that if the state government failed to come forward with action taken report than the Commission will initiate the Stern action against the erring state officials as the Commission is not going to allow diverting of such funds or lapsing of these funds and it only want utilization of this money for the welfare of the state scheduled castes.

Kainth said that the National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) will keep an eye over the Akali-BJP government's response to the Commission over the demands being raised by it and if the  government failed to utilize these funds for state scheduled castes and also go forward with it's anti-scheduled castes policy than NSCA will launch an agitation in the state over all these issues.
