CHANDIGARH: Punjab and Haryana High Court has decided to treat a petition filed last month against Bollywood movie ‘Grand Masti’ as an public interest litigation (PIL).

The petition was filed by a Chandigarh-based lawyer Dinesh Chadha against the movie on the grounds that it was vulgar and obscene. The petition was timed to stall the release of the movie in the region and a single-bench had actually stayed the release of the movie. However, adivision bench vacated the stay after the movie’s director Ashok Thakeria had move the HC against the stay ordered by the single bench.

The matter came up for hearing and the division bench, while disposing off the appeal, made it clear that it will look into the issue and treat the matter as a PIL.
