CHANDIGARH---  Punjab Local Bodies and Medical Education & Research Minister Mr. Anil Joshi today assumed the charge of his office in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and BJP State President Mr. Kamal Sharma here at Punjab Civil Secretariat.Prominent among other who were present at the occasion included Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Mr. Dinesh Kumar Babbu, Mr. Som Parkash and Mr. Inderbir Singh Bolaria (both Chief Parliamentary Secretaries), Assistant Media Advisor Mr. Vineet Joshi, BJP State General Secretary Mr. Tarun Chug, Chairman of Punjab Child Right Security Commission Mr. Swaran Salaria, Mayor of Amritsar Mr. Bakshi Ram Arora and Former MP Mrs. Gurcharan Singh.

            While congratulating Mr. Anil Joshi for taking charge of his new assignment as Local Bodies Minister, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed hope that he would work selflessly and tirelessly in the direction of providing a new look to the cities of the state. He said that Anil Joshi has done remarkable job during his tenure as Industry Minister.After assuming charge Mr. Joshi in a press communiqué said that he would not only take forward the developmental projects started by his predecessor Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat but also ensure timely completion. He said due to rapid urbanization, people are moving towards cities so we are duty bound provide the basic amenities to this population. He asked officers to be vigilant and pro active in ensuring the public welfare respond to the problems. He said there will be zero tolerance towards corruption.

            Mr. Joshi also directed the officers to provide basic services covered under RTS to the public in time bound manner. The Punjab Government has resolved to provide basic amenities like potable water, sewerage, street lights and roads to the 100% population residing in the cities.
