Punjab extends the ambit of sports gradation policy

CHANDIGARH--   In a decision of far reaching impact in sports arena, the Punjab Government has extended the ambit of sports policy by including those sportsperson of Panjab University who have represented the Punjab State in the national level competitions.
 
 

       Sportspersonof Punjab University representing Punjab, would be covered

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the sports department said that all those sportsperson of the Punjab University Campus and its affiliated colleges, who have won medals in the inter-university and inter-college games would be entitled for the sports quota with a condition of having represented the Punjab State in the National Championship and National Games. He clarified that those sportsperson who have represented Chandigarh and other states in these compactions would not be eligible for the sports quota.


        The spokesperson further said sports gradation certificates issued to these sportsperson by the Chandigarh administration would be counter signed .He said that other terms and condition in this regard would be the same as were issued in the sports gradation policy dated December 10, 1997. He said that these sportsperson would be eligible for the government jobs under sports quota in the various department of the Punjab government.
