Majithia exhorts pr officers to focus on feedback and prompt reaction against any disinformation

chandigarh: The Punjab Information & Public Relations Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia today exhorted the PR Officers to focus on factual feedback along with prompt reaction in case of any disinformation thereby categorically explaining the stand of state government on any important issue.

 

Presiding over a meeting of District Officers and Media Heads of Public Relations Department, Mr. Majithia asked them to give a periodic feedback to the government regarding various government policies and discrepancies in their implementation, if any. He asked them to get target population's perception about the usefulness of that policy and suggestion, if any, to ensure that benefit of these policies percolate to the desired people. He also underlined the need to be more quick and efficient in the fast changing scenario of information technology to use it as an effective tool to disseminate the policies and programmes with special emphasis on unique initiatives up to grass root level.

 

He said that SAD-BJP government was committed to ensure foolproof delivery of services and the public relations department has a definite twin role on one side to inform the target beneficiaries and on the other to give feedback to the government about the impact as well as quality of these public services. He said that most of the common men have to approach Suwidha Kendras, Fard Kendras and Saanjh Kendras for their day to day works and monitoring of these Kendras have become most imperative so that a common man shouldn’t feel any harassment anywhere.

 

Calling upon the PR Officials to equip themselves with the latest development initiatives of the state government, Mr. Majithia said that it was imperative for all of us to assist media by providing them required information on programmes and policies of the state government timely. He said that as PR Minister he was fully convinced that a media person always reciprocate those PR men who were well informed. He also advised them to more focus on the contents of their press releases with latest facts and figures besides feeding the media with success stories or unique development initiatives.

 

At the onset of meeting, Mr. N.S. Kang, Principal Secretary, Information & Public Relations briefed the Minister about the activities of the department. Mr. Ashwani Sharma, Director, Information & Public Relations and Mr. Gurwaryam Singh, Additional Director Administration was also present in the meeting.
