Punjab directs departments to deposit funds into cancer and drug addiction treatment fund

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has directed all government, Semi Government Institutions, Urban Local Institutions, Semi Government Agencies, Improvement Trusts and Panchayti Raj Institutions to deposit 2 % of their earnings into the Drug Addiction Treatment Infrastructure fund.


Official Spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that Punjab Government has issued a notification for collection of fund under State Cancer and Drug Addiction Treatment Act-2013. As per this notification funds would be collected from auction land or immovable assets of government, Semi Government Institutions, Urban Local Institutions, Semi Government Agencies, Improvement Trusts and Panchayti Raj Institutions and would be deposited into  the specified dedicated account. Departments would transfer this money into the cancer fund immediately after auction/sale is finalized.


According to the Spokesperson Societies and Trusts constituted by the state government would also deposit 2 % of their income twice a year into this fund after every six months. He further said that PSU/Board/Corporation/ Apex Cooperative Institutes, Urban local institutes, Improvement Trusts and Panchayati Raj Institutes those who are not in loss would deposit 2% into Board fund and they could also contribute more.
