Tryst with a renowned poet by Calgaryindians correspondent Anjali Singh Deswal
Creating magic with words, yet explaining scientific aspects to students, having books to his credit, yet serving the purpose of spreading valuable education among children, is what makes this ‘personality of the week’ special. Satish Bedaag is a teacher and a poet and has contributed his bit to the publication milieu through books on ghazals and poetry.
His journey started from Sri Muktsar Sahib near Bathinda in Punjab as a science teacher. His inclination towards poetry took him to writing books with his first work being published in 1990 when he was doing B.Ed. It was only 15 years later that his second book ‘Main aur bougainvillea’ was published. His all-time collection of ghazals were published in the form of his third book ‘Ek chutki chandani’ in 2009, the most recent book being ‘Main aur amaltas’ in 2013, which took him to the UAE where he was awarded with the ‘Srijan shree’ award in February 2013 during an international event held on Hindi.
At present Satish Bedaag holds a Government aided post at Sri Muktsar Sahib but continues to pursue his earnest ardor, ‘poetry’.
