SOCHI, Russia: On Sunday, Canada defeated Norway by 5-0 and got a gold medal during the Four Nations sledge hockey tournament at Shayba Arena.

Greg Westlake of Oakville, Ont., scored twice and Adam Dixon of Midland, Ont., had a goal and two assists. Marc Dorion of Bourget, Ont., and Billy Bridges of Summerside, P.E.I., had the other goals while Corbin Watson of Kingsville, Ont., did it big by making about four saves for the shutout.

The head coach for the team, Mike Mondin, added that the team had put in several efforts and it was these efforts that made the team win a gold. He stated that the team now prepares for the Paralympics scheduled in March and the team is also looking forward to coming back with a bang next spring. The tournament was a test event for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games at the same venue.

The results were as follows: The Canadians (5-0) beat Russia, Czech Republic and Norway in the preliminary round. On Saturday, Canada qualified for the title game with a 2-1 semifinal win over the host side. The top goaltender of the tournament was Watson. Even at Goyan in South Korea, in April, Canada had won gold at the 2013 IPC sledge hockey world championship.
