Ludhiana:LudhianaCongress today welcomed the passing of Food Security Bill by Lok Sabha and thanked the UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for fulfilling the promise of giving Food Security to each an every citizen ofIndia.
In statement issued here the DCC Urban and Rural Presidents Pawan Dewan and Malkit Singh Dakha said that clearing of Food Security Bill by Lok Sabha was a historical moment in the history of Independent India. They said that Food Security Bill is a revolutionary step by Congress led UPA government. They said that they hoped that bill will get consent of the Rajya Sabha.
The Congress leaders stated that 62 percent of total rural population and 50 percent of urban population would be covered by the Food Security Act. About 82 crore people of the country would be benefited from the Food programme. The Congress leaders said that credit for real empowerment of people ofIndiawent to Congress party. They said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had earlier brought Right to Information Act and Right to Education Act.
The Congress leaders said that Food Security bill was major step towards makingIndiahunger free country. They said that Mrs. Sonia Gandhi had conceived the idea of food for all and she worked consistently to shape the bill and ensured it is passed by the Lok Sabha.
The Congress leaders also expressed concern over the health of UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi who fell ill during debate on the food bill. They prayed for her early recovery and good health.
