Chandigarh,-- Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal released the book "Ghadar Movement background, Ideology, Action and Legacy" on Thursday late evening. Releasing the book written by eminent historians Prof. JS Grewal, Prof. Harish K Puri and Prof. Indu Banga, the Chief Minister congratulated the editorial board for presenting a detailed account of this watershed movement of Indian freedom struggle besides spotting light on the entire national independence movement initiated for throwing away the yoke of British imperialism from our motherland.
He said that apart from it this book would also showcase the role of Punjabis in various movements of freedom struggle spearheaded from within the country and abroad. Mr. Badal said that it was a matter of great pride for us that despite of being only two percent of the total population of the country, the Punjabis have made 80% of the sacrifices in the altar of freedom struggle.
The Chief Minister also extended warm wishes to the Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala Dr. Jaspal Singh for making concerted efforts to publish this book. He said that this book would prove very helpful to the Historians and students for acquiring knowledge about the Indian history. Earlier apprising the Chief Minister about the book, the Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala Dr. Jaspal Singh said that this book was related with the Ghadar movement, in which this movement has been analyzed in a new form. He said that this book was the compilation of various essays by the writers who have described this movement in full detail.
