LUDHIANA:Ludhianabecomes the fifth city in the country after the four metros ofDelhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata to have its own FM Gold radio channel to be run by the country’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharti. The FM Gold radio channel will be launched by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari, who is also the local MP, on August 16.
The FM Gold channel, as it is called, will be available on 100.1 Mega Hertz. Initially the programmes will be broadcast from the FM Gold New Delhi with local variation.
It is pertinent to mention that FM Radio Station was the long pending demand of the people of the city. InterestinglyLudhianadespite being the largest city in the north, particularly inPunjabdid not have any FM radio channel, neither in the private sector nor the public sector. It was at the personal initiative of Mr Tewari to get FM Gold radio channel started fromLudhianawithin a short span of time.
A special function is being organised at Guru Nanak Bhawan Ludhiana onAugust 16 at 10 am to mark the occasion which will be presided over by Mr Tewari and attended among others by senior officials from the I&B Ministry and Prasar Bharti.
